Continuous Improvement
Well, I know this has nothing to do with the subject, but I want to start by saying Happy Birthday to me and anyone else that shares this day with me. Now, on with the show. I'm a few days behind on my updates. I received word from my dad that Lucas' IV has now been removed. He only has the feeding tube in his mouth. When they feed him, they place a pacifier in his mouth so that not only will he learn how to suck, but he will also relate the sucking to being filled. That's pretty smart, I thought. They did, however have to lower his feeding amount from 13CC to 5CC. This was only for the day. He was taking a medication that would upset his stomach. By the end of the day, he would be back up to 10CC His weight is back up to 3 lbs, and things just keep improving.
Now we run into the housing/schooling problem. The Ronald McDonald house is still closed, but even worse my niece want to stay out of school for the year and get home schooled. I know it isn't her choice, but kids tend to rebel, when you force them to do things. We are looking into what she would have to do to be home schooled. Maybe we will able to show her that she can't without actually telling her that. And who knows. Maybe she can. The fear is that if she stays out a year that she won't go back. Any thoughts? Thanx. Talk to you soon.

I had several previously home schooled students when I taught college biology, and with two very extraordinary exceptions, they were all deficiently prepared for college both educationally and socially. Public schools, for all the criticism they endure, do a good job in teaching and socializing children and young adults- and how can a person comfortably enter a society froom which he or she has been sequestered during the developmental years? Home schooling is for parents who want their children to hear no opinions but their own. Very isolating, and in most cases, almost criminally lacking in rigor. OK, Rico, you asked for an opinion and you got it. And happy, happy birthday to you.
Very informative. I appreciate your thoughts. My father was able to get a package from the Gateway Christian Academy (or something like that), and as he was looking through it, he noticed that it was a parent that had to do the teaching. And the parent had to have a bachelors, which he doesn't. So I think it is safe to say she will be starting school soon. I will post more later. Thanx again. BTW - No spellcheck was done to this.
Et tu, Penfold?? I know my son thinks of me as the spelling Nazi, but YOU??? Oooh eck! I just noticed a misspelled word in my first comment. OK, I went temporarily Scots for a moment... "froom" instead of "from"... yeah, that's it, I meant to be Scottish, I didn't mistype a word. Phew!
When I said, no spellcheck was done to this. I was refering to my comment. I was merely protecting myself from the Spelling Nazi. I am not sure how to do a spellcheck when posting a comment. I guess I'm still a Neo-Blogger. I had to re-read your comments several times before I noticed what you were talking about. I never meant it towards you.
